Hello! My name is Magan Hopson and I am a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) in the state of Illinois. I received my Bachelor in Psychology from Illinois State University and my Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University.  I have over ten years of experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, families, adults and couples.

My career began straight out of undergraduate school and allowed me to work and engage in therapy, under supervision, while I received my masters. It afforded me an opportunity to get a real world experience of the struggles and issues that people face and how to approach those issues outside of simply what a book tells you to do. I have been blessed to work with a wide range of populations, disorders and stressors. In my ten-plus years I have been able to see the benefit of having that neutral, unbiased person who can help people overcome anything, from the most severe mental health issues to the every day stressors we all face.

My focus now is on working with adolescents, adults and couples.  I believe in the importance of exploring your thoughts, feelings and behaviors and identifying your strengths, as each person has the power to overcome any issue. I have experience with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, loss and grief, trauma and life stressors/transitions. I use a variety of techniques, because each person is unique and there is never a “one size fits all” approach to therapy.   I believe that your feelings are important and that if you can explore those feelings in a safe, comfortable environment you will see the insights you have into yourself and the issues you are facing.
